. . . it is time . . .

I received a text today from my sister Dale, to say her parcel had arrived this afternoon.  She was delighted with it's contents.  It also boosted her, as she had a nasty fall on her frozen door step last week and has a very bad bruised buttock. Needless to say there is no photo with this post.

Huck's 40th Birthday Card Here is the first of the two missing cards from Stamp Camp. I cheated realy, because I had made the invitations for his party, and the card was a spare.  I simply added the 40 and changed the insert.  The envelope has the gift in it.  It is a voucher to drive go-carts at Archerfield raceway.

I wasn't happy with the container I had for the Journal. I was hopping about on blogs and found a wee treasure from  LeeAnn Greff - a fabric bag tutorial .  So here is my final version.

I have had a few projects on the go, so decided a long rainy weekend with no commitments was a perfect opportunity to complete them. Perpetual Journal Having seen a few on various blogs, I decided I would have a go.  I started with two sets of plain cards and two small books (for the children's Christmas stockings). I figured if I was changing a stamp date 365 times, I may as use it 4 times each time. Preparation Completion #1 For Dale Useful Gift Box I had a few cards made that I wanted to send to my sister Dale. The project grew to include dividers and a box. What a super time we had away at Minden. I wasn't as productive as I have been in the past, but I was certainly more creative. My work (minus two, because we can't have any peeking by those with special birthday's soon) Jaki has an inviting bottle of flowers she inited us to use.  This was the outcome from me. Challenges abounded. I entered 3 of the 4. Monochrome: Three of these techniques: stamping; paper tearing; punching; sewing; handmade flowers (and two others I can't recall) Of course there is the perpetual "Funniest at camp" trophy - Which the 'card mafia' won for their efforts in the Saturday night animal print theme: Of all the cards I created, this was my fav though: Supplies - SU; cuttlebug embossing folder; Spell binders dies; misc flowers & bling

The 'crazy cardmakers' (aka, Helen, Jaki, Sam & me) are off to. Minden this weekend for a Scrapbooking Retreat. Our gorgeous organiser has recently travelled to Africa. She has set out theme for Saturday night as 'animal print night'.  My bower bird of a husband has a wee collection of tigers and has offered to lend them to us.  We will see if the fit in the car. I wanted some last minute things from Spotlight, so Lachlan and I popped into the Mount Gravatt store while Kira was at Choir rehearsals.  Lachlan took a liking to these toad stools.

My dear cousin Jo lives on the Gold Coast and we hadn't seen each other since Boxing Day.  We arranged to meet at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary .  The kids really enjoy feeding the lorikeets and Jo and I appreciate sharing a coffee. A win:win plan.   Lachlan jumped at the chance to pose with a jungle carpet snake Jo and I caught up on our news and talked about how we will be planning to celebrate our respective "50th" this year. As you can see, there aren't many lorikeets in any of the photos. The guide said there were lots of birds of prey in the sky.  When I looked at the website there was also this explanation: Why are there sometimes only a few lorikeets at the Sanctuary? The lorikeets that feed at the sanctuary are wild birds, therefore we have no control over their numbers.  The birds prefer to feed from natural sources rather than come to CWS during warmer weather, when there are many native trees in full bloom. I was sitting at the computer blog hopping around the world, enjoying the generosity of others and they share on the internet when this pile of papers fell over onto the key board.  I realised it was time to do some sorting and filing!!! This was the result after quite some effort.  I found some documents from December 2011!!! I pledge to file as I go . . . and NOT batch the end task.

Sunday 20 May  We enjoyed an outing to listen Kira in the Australian Youth Choir perform. The recital was at the Anglican Church Grammar School in East Brisbane.  They sounded lovely and had a lot of fun.
