Testing Google +

Road trip preparation

As we are about to head off on a road trip for two weeks I thought I would prepare for updating the blog via mobile technology.  This is done on my iPad.

I have downloaded and enabled Google+ to both the iPad & iPhone and have taken these photos to test this morning.

 Taken on the iPad
Taken on the iPhone.

I just need to organise my clothes; the food; the first aid kit; the toiletries and we will be set to head off on Thursday afternoon.

Creation and Giving

I saw a card on Pinterest and tracked it to it's source. I really needed to have a go, so here is my effort.
(Supplies: SU Cardstock Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla; SU stamp - Sense of Time; SU punches - Scallop Trim corner & Edge border; cogs made from Boho Blossoms punch with a hole punched out; circles from nesting dies).

This is one from the stash that we had made at a class. As I don't own all the doings I can't provide them.  This was given to my hairdresser who had twin boys 6 weeks ago (8 weeks premature).  I thought the 'two by two' theme of the ark made a most appropriate selection to welcome them

Saturday - one book read!

I returned the last book to the library and instead of borrowing another I thought about all the books at home that I haven't read.  Michael and I so enjoyed the Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman, that Michael couldn't leave this one behind when it spotted it in his travels.  It was a lovely light read and I managed it in a day (as well as karate, catch ups with friends in the morning and the afternoon and the washing !).

In this new prequel episode from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials universe, Lee Scoresby--Texan aeronaut and future friend to Lyra Belacqua--is just 24 years old, and he's recently won his hot-air balloon in a poker game. He finds himself floating North to the windswept Arctic island of Novy Odense, where he and his hare daemon Hester are quickly tangled in a deadly plot involving oil magnate Larsen Manganese, corrupt mayoral candidate Ivan Poliakov, and Lee's longtime nemesis from the Dakota Country: Pierre McConville, a hired killer with at least twenty murders to his name.
It's only after Lee forms an alliance with one of the island's reviled armored bears that he can fight to break up the conspiracy in a gun-twirling classic western shoot out--and battle of wits. This exquisite clothbound volume features the illustrations of John Lawrence, a removable board game—Peril of the Pole—on the inside back cover, and a glimpse for Pullman fans into the first friendship of two of the most beloved characters in the His Dark Materials trilogy: Lee Scoresby and armored bear Iorek Byrnison.

Birthday Gifts

every time I used my Decor Cake Box I have thought "I really need a carry bag for this like my casserole carrier".  I then thought "wouldn't that make a super gift".  So I designed and made one (two).

Terri's Gift

Jenny's Gift

Lorraine Lea Linen updated bedrooms

Kira's bed
I have been to numerous linen parties, having replenished the doona supply and some towels.  the 25% off everything in january led me to a big buy up for all our beds.  They look lovely too.

Lachlan's bed

Mine (& Michael's) bed

I really enjoyed this book.  I had read Wildflower Hill while on holiday last year, so I wasn't surprised that this was just as compelling. I managed to read it in a week as well!  Not much else gets done though.

Lighthouse Bay

A compelling tale of love, secrets, and the power of forgiveness.

1901: Isabella Winterbourne has suffered the worst loss a woman can know. She can no longer bear her husband nor his oppressive upper-class family. On a voyage between London and Sydney to accompany a priceless gift to the Australian parliament, Isabella is the sole survivor of a shipwreck off the sun-drenched Queensland coast. But in this strange new place, she finds she cannot escape her past quite as easily as she d hoped.
2011: A woman returns from Paris to her beachside home town to reconcile with her sister. But she, too, has a past that is hard to escape and her sister is not in a mood to forgive her. Strange noises at night and activity at the abandoned lighthouse raise her curiosity, and she finds herself investigating a century-old town mystery.
